On November 11, 2020, at the Vietnam National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, a workshop with the theme "Sharing Basic Knowledge and Skills in Clinical Psychology in Patient Care and Treatment" took place. The workshop was organized by the Vietnam Psychotherapy Association (VPA) and the Vietnam - France Psychology Institute (VFPI).
With the main goal of supporting the staff of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in knowledge and skills in patient counseling with a clinical psychological approach as well as stress reduction methods in the medical environment, the workshop was attended by the Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion - Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh and two main speakers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Ban - President of the VPA, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Mai Hien - Vice President of the Association.
Opening the workshop, Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh shared about the pressures that healthcare workers, and medical personnel are facing in the medical environment in general and at the Central Hematology and Blood Transfusion Institute in particular. He also expressed gratitude to the VPA and the VFPI for organizing a meaningful workshop, contributing to improving the quality of the working environment for colleagues.
The workshop included three main contents:
Issues encountered between healthcare workers and patients: psychological analysis and coping methods
Issues from healthcare workers themselves: psychological analysis and coping methods
Stress: causes and relaxation training methods
Through the workshop, healthcare workers at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion gained a deeper understanding of psychological knowledge and solutions when encountering difficult situations. In addition, they were also instructed on exercises to reduce stress during work to improve their mental health as well as that of the patients.
