One of the most beneficial aspects of teaching is building positive relationships with parents. Effective communication between parents and teachers is essential for teacher success. A good relationship between both parties creates conditions for teachers to wholeheartedly engage with students. A student will strive harder at school if they know that teachers regularly communicate with their parents and parents also trust the teachers. Conversely, a student will misbehave if they know that teachers rarely or never communicate with their parents and/or if parents do not trust the teachers. This is counterproductive and causes trouble primarily for the teachers and ultimately for the students.
To improve the quality of teaching and learning as well as enhance communication skills for the teaching staff, experts from Vietnam France Psychology Institute conducted a training session on the topic "Communication Skills with Students' Parents" for the teachers of Western Hanoi School this morning (June 13th 2020).
Through the training session, the teaching staff will:
Acquire basic communication skills
Enhance the quality of communication with students' parents
Anticipate difficult situations in communicating with students' parents and have strategies to address them.
Parents are an extremely valuable source of information when it comes to creating an effective and engaging teaching program. They provide specific details about their children and give feedback on various projects and goals. Therefore, establishing appropriate communication channels between teachers and the parents of students is crucial.
Contents of the training session:
Definition of communication
Basic communication skills
Characteristics of students' parents
Challenges in communicating with students' parents
Strategies to overcome challenges in communicating with students' parents.
