On May 16th 2020, at Tay Ha Noi School, a training session on "Skills for Dealing with Students with Deviant Behavior" was conducted for the teachers of Tay Ha Noi School. The session was taught by the expert from Vietnam - France Psychology Institute (VFPI) - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Nam.
Deviant behaviors are increasingly prevalent among students. These behaviors do not conform to ethical standards or laws, leading to misconceptions and inappropriate actions among adolescents, thereby adversely affecting individuals, families, and society. Therefore, school management and teachers need to understand this situation clearly and grasp preventive measures to protect, educate, and provide psychological counseling for children - the most sensitive and vulnerable age group.
Training objectives:
Teachers play a crucial role in educating and shaping the thinking and knowledge of their students, molding them into morally upright individuals who recognize and steer clear of deviant behaviors. With the aim of ensuring that teachers fulfill their duties effectively and help students become valuable members of society, developing their personalities and morals in a normal manner, the training course is designed to achieve the following objectives:
Equipping teachers and administrators with knowledge about the concept, manifestations, causes, etc., of deviant behavior.
Enhancing interaction skills and support for students with deviant behavior, understanding preventive measures and strategies for handling deviant behavior
Understanding how to provide psychological counseling for children to educate students about good morals and character
Training Content
During the 3-hour training session led by expert Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Nam, the following topics were covered:
The concept of deviant behavior in students and the causes of deviant behavior among students in the school environment.
Identifying and categorizing various forms of deviant behavior in students and in society, as well as recognizing signs of deviant behavior in students.
Assessing the extent and analyzing deviant behavior, thereby proposing appropriate handling solutions.
Interaction skills and support for students with deviant behavior, establishing an effective counseling process for students.
