Celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association

On December 19, 2020, in Hanoi, Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association (Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations) solemnly organized the Ceremony commemorating the 65th anniversary of its establishment (1955-2020).

Dr. Ngo Thanh Hue, Deputy Director at VFPI (standing 4th from the right) represented VFPI to attend the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations; Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh, Member of the Central Committee of Communist Party of VietNam (CPV), Chairwoman of National Assembly Committee On Social Affairs, Chairwoman of the Vietnam - France Friendship Parliamentarians Group of the National Assembly; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Deputy Head of CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations; Mr. Nicolas Warnery, French Republic Ambassador to Vietnam, along with representatives from ministries, departments, sectors, members of the Executive Committee, and numerous members of the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien emphasized that the Vietnam - France Friendship Association has undergone 65 years of activities with the goal of "contributing to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Vietnam and France; contributing to the continuous development of relations between the two countries, for peace, cooperation, and development."

Over the past 65 years, the Association has realized President Ho Chi Minh's desire to build new pages in the Vietnam - French relationship, on the basis of the common aspirations for peace, equal cooperation, mutual benefit, and development. In the context of the complex and evolving Covid-19 pandemic, the Association has demonstrated its tradition of solidarity, mutual assistance, and actively mobilizing organizations, individuals who are members of the Association and those outside the Association to contribute face masks, medical protective equipment, anti-droplet masks, etc. to send to friends and people in France. This gesture has been highly appreciated by French friends, further enriching the affection of international friends for Vietnam. In the time to come, the Association will continue to promote the further development of the network of its member organizations in agencies, units with extensive cooperation with France, or groups with many individuals who have studied, researched in France to make the great potential of the beautiful relationship between Vietnam and the French Republic more effective.

Also at the Commemoration Ceremony, French Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolas Warnery, expressed gratitude from the French people for the active participation of the Vietnamese people as well as the Vietnam - France Friendship and Cooperation Association, especially during the Covid-19 crisis.
